Frequently asked questions about cinemas in Karachi

How many cinemas are there in Karachi?

Karachi has 4 cinemas across 3 chains: Nueplex (2 locations — DHA and Askari IV), Cinepax (Ocean Mall), and Cinegold Karachi. Each one programs the major Hollywood and Urdu releases on opening day.

Which cinemas in Karachi have Dolby Atmos?

Cinegold Karachi is the only Karachi cinema currently running Dolby Atmos. For the highest-end premium screening in the city, Cinegold and Nueplex DHA’s Lounge tier are the main options.

Where is Nueplex in Karachi?

Nueplex runs two Karachi locations. Nueplex DHA is on the south side of the city in Defence; Nueplex Askari IV is in Rashid Minhas Road, drawing from PECHS, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, and the Askari residential blocks. Both run Standard, Gold, and Lounge seating.

Which Karachi cinema has Lounge / recliner seating?

Nueplex DHA, Nueplex Askari IV, and Cinegold Karachi all offer Lounge tiers with recliner seating. Cinegold and Nueplex DHA are usually the picks when you want the premium recliner experience plus a wider food and beverage menu.

Which Karachi cinema is on the seafront / Clifton side?

Cinepax Ocean Mall is the cinema closest to the Clifton seafront — set inside Ocean Mall a short drive from the beach. For a coastal-side movie outing combined with mall food, this is the natural pick.

Which Karachi cinema is best for late shows?

Cinegold Karachi and Nueplex DHA both program weekend shows past midnight on most Friday and Saturday nights. Cinepax Ocean Mall runs slightly earlier final showtimes.

Where can I find showtimes for all Karachi cinemas?

Derooj aggregates same-day showtimes across all 4 Karachi cinemas — Cinegold, Cinepax, and both Nueplex locations — into a single feed. Filter by date or browse the Karachi movie grid to compare what’s playing.

Are there cinemas in Karachi outside DHA and Clifton?

Yes. Nueplex Askari IV serves the central Karachi catchment (PECHS, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Askari blocks), and Cinegold Karachi anchors a separate area of the city. Cinepax Ocean Mall and Nueplex DHA cover the south.

About cinemas in Karachi

Karachi’s cinema map is smaller than Lahore’s but more spread out — four venues stretched across DHA in the south up to Rashid Minhas Road in the central catchment. Nueplex anchors the south end with two locations (DHA and Askari IV), each running the full Standard/Gold/Lounge tier mix; Cinepax Ocean Mall sits closest to the Clifton seafront for a beach-side mall outing; Cinegold Karachi rounds out the premium experience with the city’s only Dolby Atmos screen. The mix means most Karachi neighbourhoods are within a 20-minute drive of at least one cinema, and weekend programming runs late on Fridays and Saturdays across all four venues for post-dinner shows.
