Top Movies in Pakistan This Week (April 27 – May 3, 2026)

Omer Khan10 min read

Big week. Michael debuted at every single cinema in the country — all 15 locations, 324 showtimes. That is the widest opening I have tracked on Derooj. Lee Cronin's The Mummy also landed at all 15 cinemas with 193 showtimes. Meanwhile, Aag Lage Basti Mein dropped to #2 but is still pulling 263 showtimes across 13 cinemas. 23 movies total, 1,325 showtimes across Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad this week.

The Punjabi slate thinned out compared to recent weeks. Viyaah Kartaare Da and Bullah are still around, and Khushkhabri is a new Lahore-only addition, but the Punjabi dominance from a few weeks ago has cooled. The big story this week is Hollywood and Pakistani releases going head-to-head.

For live showtimes without the commentary, derooj.com has real-time data from all 15 cinemas. Updated multiple times a day.

#1 Michael — 324 Showtimes at 15 Cinemas

The Michael Jackson biopic opened massive. 324 showtimes, every cinema in the country. That is more showtimes than any movie has had at opening week since I started tracking these numbers. Cue Cinemas in Lahore leads with 53 showtimes, followed by Nueplex DHA in Karachi with 43 and Cinegold Karachi with 42.

Playing at Cue Cinemas, Nueplex DHA, Cinegold Karachi, Universal Emporium, Cinegold Islamabad, Cinegold Lahore, Cinepax Packages Mall, Cinepax Jinnah Park, Cinepax Ocean Mall, Cinepax Amanah Mall, Nueplex Askari IV, Cinepax World Trade Center, Cinestar Township, Cinestar Xinhua Mall, and Cinestar DHA Raya Club. All in 2D English.

At 155 minutes, it is a long sit. But from what I am hearing, the performance sequences are worth every minute. If you are going to see this, CUE in Lahore or Cinegold Karachi are your best bets for sound quality — a music biopic lives or dies by the audio.

#2 Aag Lage Basti Mein — 263 Showtimes at 13 Cinemas

Still going strong. Down from its peak but 263 showtimes across 13 cinemas is a solid hold. Cinepax Ocean Mall in Karachi leads with 44 showtimes, and Universal Emporium in Lahore has 39. Karachi and Lahore are both keeping this one alive.

The Cinestar locations only have 1-2 showtimes each now, which tells you the film is winding down at the smaller chains but still packing halls at the bigger multiplexes. If you have not seen it yet, this might be your last full week to catch it at most cinemas.

Playing at Cinepax Ocean Mall, Universal Emporium, Cinegold Karachi, Cinepax Packages Mall, Nueplex Askari IV, Cinegold Lahore, Cue Cinemas, Cinepax Jinnah Park, Cinepax World Trade Center, Nueplex DHA, Cinepax Amanah Mall, Cinestar Township, and Cinestar Xinhua Mall. 2D English.

#3 Lee Cronin's The Mummy — 193 Showtimes at 15 Cinemas

The other massive debut this week. 193 showtimes across all 15 cinemas. Universal Emporium is the top location with 50 showtimes, which is aggressive scheduling from Universal. Cinepax Packages Mall has 25 and Cinegold Karachi has 21.

Available in both English and Urdu, which is notable — not every Hollywood horror release gets the Urdu treatment. At 133 minutes and a 6.9 rating, it is sitting in that solid-not-spectacular range. Lee Cronin directed Evil Dead Rise, so if you liked that, the tone should be familiar.

For horror, my pick is still Cue Cinemas in Lahore. The Dolby Atmos system makes horror films feel genuinely different. Universal Emporium has the most showtimes if flexibility matters more to you.

#4 The Super Mario Galaxy Movie — 81 Showtimes at 13 Cinemas

Holding on nicely. Down from previous weeks but still at 13 cinemas with 81 showtimes. Cinepax Packages Mall leads with 14, Cue Cinemas has 12, and Cinepax Ocean Mall has 12.

Still available in both 2D and 3D. If you have been meaning to take the kids, do not wait too much longer — the 3D screenings tend to drop first as cinemas make room for new releases. Weekday afternoons are still the move for families. Empty halls, better seats.

Playing at all three Cinegold locations, all three Cinepax locations with strong showtimes, both Nueplex cinemas, CUE, Universal, and the three Cinestars. Genuinely nationwide reach.

#5 Project Hail Mary — 66 Showtimes at 9 Cinemas

Winding down but not gone. 66 showtimes across 9 cinemas, led by Cue Cinemas with 22 showtimes — CUE is clearly holding onto this one longer than most. Cinepax Packages Mall has 10.

If you still have not seen this, the window is closing. It has been running for weeks and the showtime count is dropping steadily. CUE's Atmos setup is still my recommendation for this one. Ryan Gosling in space with proper surround sound is the way to experience it.

Available in Lahore (CUE, Cinepax Packages, Universal, Cinestar Xinhua), Karachi (Nueplex DHA, Nueplex Askari IV, Cinepax Ocean Mall), and Islamabad (Cinegold Islamabad, Cinepax Jinnah Park). 2D English only.

Top Movies in Pakistan by City

Lahore

Lahore has the deepest selection this week with around 16 movies across 8 cinemas. Universal Emporium continues to be the most aggressive programmer, running everything from Michael to Scream 7 to Ready or Not 2. Cue Cinemas has strong showtime counts across the board, and it is still the best screen in the city for sound.

The Lahore-exclusive titles this week include Khushkhabri (47 showtimes at 4 cinemas), Hoppers (16 showtimes at CUE and Cinepax Packages), Scream 7 (15 showtimes at Universal only), Dracula (10 showtimes at CUE and Universal), and Bambukat 2 (5 showtimes at Cinepax Packages). Punjabi cinema fans have Viyaah Kartaare Da, Bullah, Ishqan De Lekhe, and Bambukat 2 to choose from.

The Cinestar locations (Township, Xinhua Mall, DHA Raya Club) are running thin schedules — mostly 1-3 showtimes per movie. If you are headed to a Cinestar, check the specific times on Derooj before going.

Karachi

Karachi has around 14 movies across 4 cinemas this week. Cinegold Karachi and Nueplex DHA are the main venues, with Cinepax Ocean Mall and Nueplex Askari IV rounding things out.

The Karachi-exclusive titles are The Devil Wears Prada 2 (25 showtimes at both Nueplex locations), Hokum (9 showtimes at Nueplex DHA and Askari IV), Animal Farm (6 showtimes at Nueplex), Baab (4 showtimes at Nueplex DHA), and Normal (1 showtime at Cinepax Ocean Mall).

Nueplex is carrying most of Karachi's unique programming. If you are in DHA or Clifton, you have good access to both Nueplex DHA and Cinepax Ocean Mall. The Devil Wears Prada 2 at 25 showtimes is a solid draw — Karachi is the only city where it is playing.

For live Karachi showtimes, check the Karachi page.

Islamabad

Islamabad has the smallest selection at around 9 movies across 3 cinemas: Cinegold Islamabad, Cinepax Jinnah Park, and Cinepax World Trade Center.

The top three — Michael, Aag Lage Basti Mein, and The Mummy — are all well represented. Cinegold Islamabad has strong showtime counts (35 for Michael, 7 each for The Mummy, Mario Galaxy, Project Hail Mary, Fuze, and The Drama). No Islamabad-exclusive titles this week, but the major releases are all covered.

What to Watch This Week in Pakistan

This is a strong week for variety. Here is how I would break it down:

  • For the event movie experienceMichael is the obvious choice. 324 showtimes means you can find a time that works anywhere. Go to CUE or Cinegold for the best sound.
  • For horror fansLee Cronin's The Mummy at 193 showtimes, available in Urdu too. CUE's Atmos system for horror is hard to beat.
  • For familiesThe Super Mario Galaxy Movie in 3D is still your best bet. Catch it before the 3D screenings disappear. Hoppers is a Lahore-only alternative at CUE and Cinepax Packages.
  • For Punjabi cinemaViyaah Kartaare Da (55 showtimes) and Bullah (45 showtimes) are the strongest options. Both Lahore-focused.
  • For sci-fiProject Hail Mary is running out of time. If you have been putting it off, this week is likely one of your last chances.
  • For Karachi specificallyThe Devil Wears Prada 2 is a Karachi exclusive at both Nueplex locations. 25 showtimes.

Showtimes are based on Derooj data as of April 27. Movies can gain or lose screens mid-week. For the latest, check derooj.com for real-time showtimes across all 15 cinemas in Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad.
